※ The scope of the renowned international conferences: International academic conferences included in the top 20 publications in each subject category by Google scholar top publications and 7 Excellent academic conferences(CVPR, ICRA, IROS, CHI, ACMMM, ICIP, EMBC)
AI-Robotics Publish 2 or more papers in internationally renowned academic journals including SCI(SCIE, SSCI) as the first author, Or Publish 1 or more papers in internationally renowned academic journals including SCI(SCIE, SSCI) as the first author and 1 or more Oral presentation and posters as the first author at a renowned international conference

Doctoral Degree Evaluation of advanced knowledge and application skills in a major field, through a written or oral test
Master’s Degree Evaluation of basic and advanced knowledge in a major field, through a written or oral test (can be replaced by the result of dissertation evaluation – only students who entered UST before 2017)

Thesis/Dissertation (Required for both doctoral and master’s degree)

A candidate may request a review for thesis/dissertation evaluation if he/she (1) fulfills respective credit requirements, (2) passes a comprehensive qualifying exam, (3) receives a recommendation from an academic advisor.

  • Students who have acquired credits according to the article 40 of the academic regulations (acquiring credits by course) or who projected to acquire credits by course registration for the relevant semester
  • Students who have passed the comprehensive examination
  • Students who have received recommendations from their academic advisors
Doctoral/Integrative Students who have passed the evaluation for doctoral thesis proposals
(Paper publication needed to apply the dissertation evaluation from freshmen in 2017)
Schedule for Evaluation
  • Spring Semester - Evaluation Period (Apr. – June) → Submit printed copy (Jul. 10) degree conferral (Aug.)
  • Fall Semester - Evaluation Period (Oct. – Dec.) → Submit printed copy (Jan. 10) degree conferral (Feb.)

  • There may be campus-specific requirements for paper publication, in such case both UST requirements and campus-specific requirements must be satisfied in order to acquire degree.
  • UST must be listed as an affiliated institution to qualify as a valid research achievement.
  • Candidates subjected to previous requirements should contact staff listed below.
  • In publishing an SCI-class academic paper, check plagiarism by TURNITIN program(Turnitin, Copykiller, eTBLAST, etc. are also recognized) and upload “Originality Report” or “Digital Receipt” From 2018, it is mandatory.
